Adelita Jimenez (Duron) Speed of Orangeville, MI passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at the age of 75. She was born in Orangeville, MI on August 29, 1947, the daughter of Jose and Petra (Jimenez) Duron.
Adelita loved to dance, when she was younger her father would take her and her sister to Grand Rapids to attend the Mexican Dances. She would get dressed to the nines and even saved her money up so she could buy new dancing clothes for herself and her sister.
When she was younger her mother had the family work harvesting produce from the fields instilling the lessons of hard work. She met her future husband: Ronald Speed in an onion field and the two were united in marriage later that year on November 20, 1965. After getting married she began working at the local dry cleaners before leaving to take care of her family.
She loved being outside in her yard, she tended well to her roses, tulips, rhododendron and much more.
Adelita loved to cook for her family, she took up her mother’s tradition of making tamales every Christmas Eve and anyone that came to visit went home with a dozen.
She had a passion for collection rings to wear and was known to have packages arriving daily with new jewelry to wear. She had a great knowledge of gems and could easily distinguish between different types of stones.
More than anything she loved her family. She had a wonderful time raising her children and spent a lot of time with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in her passing by her parents; children: Tammy Speed and Ronald Joseph Speed; brothers: Jose and David Duron; and ex-partner: Ronald Speed.
Left to cherish her loving memory are her children: Annette McFanin, Angel (Brett) Simpson, and Christopher Speed; grandchildren: Alyssa (Bobby) Justice, Ronald McFanin, Dustin (Kayla) Simpson, Kyle (Brianna) Simpson, Natalie Simpson, Dominic Speed, and Jocelyn Speed; great grandchildren: Ethan Justice, Mia Justice, and Primrose Simpson; siblings: Jim Duran and Gloria (Robert) Garza; and many nephews and nieces.
