Albert William Hosner

Hosner, Albert 7/14/1928-6/11/2017, Vicksburg, MI. Albert William Hosner passed away among loved ones on June 11, 2017 at the age of 88. Albert was the fourth of five children born to Mary and Joseph Hosner in Gillespie, IL. Albert is survived by his wife Barbara, to whom he was married for 64 years. They raised 5 children together. He is survived by his five children: James (Tammie) Hosner, John (Paola) Hosner, Joan (James) Smola, Joseph (Aja) Hosner, and Jack (Sharon) Hosner, 15 grandchildren, as well as 2 brothers and many nieces and nephews. Al graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor's of Science degree, and a Master's of Science degree in Soil Science. He was an Army Veteran. He was an accomplished paddleball and handball player, attaining national championships at the Masters level. He had a life-long love of gardening, tennis, and exercise. His most treasured times were spent with his wife, children (and their dogs), grandchildren, and in his garden. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, July 15 at Vicksburg United Methodist Church at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kalamazoo YMCA or the Vicksburg United Methodist Church.
