Amalia "Molly" Quiroz Rivera, age 92, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025, in Portage, Michigan.
Born in Saginaw, Michigan. Amalia worked for the Saginaw Public Schools for 18 years. After retirement, she continued serving others through her church, where she found joy and purpose.
Amalia had a passion for softball and baseball. She was a pitcher and she coaching with enthusiasm. She loved listening to her Spanish music, enjoying a good game of bingo, playing at the casino and most of all, spending time with her beloved family. She wore many hats in her life such as sugar beet hauler, yellow cab driver, motorcycle rider, lay minister. She participated in church committees and even owned a restaurant in Puerto Rico.
She is survived by her children: Guadalupe Valtierra, Wilson Burgos, Octovio Carreras, Jose Morales (Debra) and Nancy Braun. Sisters: Emelia Quiroz Ortega(Manuel Gonzalez), Maclobia Morales and Victoria Gonzalez and her brother Octavio Quiroz. She was preceded in death by her father Jose Quiroz, mother Catarina Lozada, sisters Juanita Rodriguez, San Juanita Villegas, Celia Quiroz; Brothers: Jose Perez, Rogelio Quiroz, Jenaro Quiroz; daughter Ruby Carreras; son Diego Morales and beloved friend Englantina Mendoza.. Amalia was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.
Her legacy of love, strength, and spirituality will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Memorial will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, 11 a.m. @ St. Francis of Assisi, 3680 S Washington Rd, Saginaw, MI 48601.
