Amy Jo Woodruff

Amy Jo Woodruff was born July 7, 1978, in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of Richard and Diane (Haas) Woodruff. Amy passed away in her sleep on February 27, 2022.

She was a long-time resident of Plainwell.  Amy graduated from Allegan County Development Center in 2004.  She went on to own her own business, Red Zebra Paper Products, where she sold hand-made greeting cards at in-home card parties. Amy spent the last three years enjoying her new independence, living at David’s House, where she made many friends.  She loved zebras, balloons and the color red. Her favorite music was Michael Jackson and other pop music.  But her first and greatest love was for her family.  She lived for family gatherings and loved to travel. Amy was known for her knock-knock jokes. If you knew Amy, you enjoyed at least one of her knock-knock jokes.

Amy is survived by her parents: Dick and Diane; her brother Rick and Heather Woodruff; her nephews Caleb and Joshua Woodruff as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Memorial donations can be made to David’s House Ministries; 2251 Hope Grove Ave SW, Wyoming, MI 49509

Visit with family and friends on Saturday, March 12 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Avink, McCowen and Secord Funeral Home; 120 S. Woodhams St. in Plainwell.  A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 pm at the same location.  Following the service, a committal will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Gun Plain Township.

While at www.amsfuneralhomes.com please take time to sign Amy’s guestbook and/or share a memory with her family.

Woodruff family,
Amy was always a light in the room! I remember her smiles! Diane pleading with her to let go of her death grip hugs! Somehow those hugs made me feel great! Probably because I knew she put all her love into them! I definitely remember her telling the same knock knock jokes over and over again! Dick and Diane you took such great care of her! I could always see how much you loved and cared for her! I am sure my mom greeted her with great joy in a much happier place! I can just see Amy with the biggest smile ever! I pray peace be with you as you grieve such a great loss! Love you guys!

Dearest Amy,
My little knock knock girl Earth was a beautiful place with you in it. Your laughter and smile was extremely contagious I will forever hold those memories in my heart. Richard and Diane my prayers and thoughts for comfort and peace are with you.

Our hearts were saddened as we learned of Amy's unexpected sudden passing. We are parents of a David's House resident (Jonathan) and first met Amy as we purchased some of her cards at the fall Bazaar. We know she will be missed. We are praying for you, your family, and friends with heartfelt sympathy. Terry and Barbara Burlingame

Diane, Dick, and family,
I have such fond memories of Amy when I worked as an aide on her school bus to Hillside. She was one of the first kids that I had the pleasure of getting to know. Amy always made me smile whether it was by her enthusiasm for life, her "knock knock" jokes, her powerful hugs, or just some of her silly, quirky ways. I'll never forget her famous phrases like "I'm just picking on you or I'm just pulling your leg." She taught me me so much about kindness, joy, wittiness, family love, and so many other things that make up the importance of life. Amy, you will be truly missed, but your memory will live on in the hearts of so many lives that you touched. My deepest condolences to Amy's family. Even though I will not be at her memorial, my thoughts and heartfelt prayers are with you now and in the days to come.
Much love.

So sorry for your loss. Who would ever imagined the timeline of these two. May you hold near all the best time memories we have with our "kids". They will always be with us until we are all united again.

What a sweet spirit our neighbor Amy had, she always brought us a kind smile 😊! Being in the medical world my favorite knock-knock joke was the HIPAA one, it was the best 🙏! I'm certain your family will miss her deeply, but God has her now , in his arms, on streets of gold , Amy is a treasure in heaven 😇❤️✝️
