It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andrew Wayne TerBerg. Andy is survived by his loving and devoted wife Rebecca, precious daughter Isla, parents Jeffrey “Zigg” and Liz TerBerg, sister Joyce Gepner, nieces Yael and Adina, mother and father-in-law: Charles and Linda Shields, extended family, and many, many dear friends he considered family.
Andy felt most at peace in nature and was an avid outdoorsman. He was at home on a Michigan lake, river or forest, on foot, in a boat or tree stand. Send him up to Manistee for a weekend and he’d return with a fresh catch, tall tales, and be smiling for days.
Andy graduated from Galesburg-Augusta High School with the Class of 2005. In high school he was athletic and participated in football, baseball, and wrestling. After high school he attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College (KVCC) in their Wind Turbine Technician Academy. He loved the challenge of climbing up in, and working on wind turbines in Maryland and Pennsylvania, and eventually transitioned to McNally Elevator back in Michigan as a licensed elevator technician. His career with McNally gave him the opportunity to use his technical skills, build relationships and meet new people all around West Michigan.
Andy’s truest legacy is in the relationships he treasured. A stranger to no one, his friendships ran far, deep and true. He loved being around people, and people loved being around him more. It was through this that he met the love of his life, Rebecca. They laid their roots in Vicksburg, and spent 14 happy years growing together and traveling the world, falling deeper in love with adventure and each other.
Their biggest adventure came in September 2023 with the birth of their beautiful daughter, Isla. Andy and Isla had a bond rooted in adoration, laughter and child-like spirit. Even in their two short years together, it's become clear how much like her dad she is.
Andy lived a life well beyond his 38 years and will be immeasurably missed.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to Isla’s 529 education savings plan: www.Ugift529.com // code: 50C-B62
