Anthony Pearl

Anthony Ellis Pearl, age 71, passed peacefully at Bronson Hospital on February 5, 2023 with his wife at his side.  He was born August 5,1951 in Crestline, Ohio to Ellis (Pete) and Yolanda (Lanni) Pearl.  While growing up in Ohio he began collecting sports memorabilia.  He loved sports and saved cards, photos, pins, hats primarily of Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and Ohio State items. His love of Ohio sports remained his entire life. In 1966 his family moved to Portage, Michigan due to his dad’s work transfer by General Motors but stayed dedicated to Ohio.  Tony graduated from Portage Northern High School in 1969 and began working in retail sales, marketing, and management where he was awarded multiple honors of performance excellence. In 1971 he met Vickie Lynn Hahn and married his lifelong companion on April 27, 1973 at St Monica Catholic Church in Kalamazoo, MI. In 1974 their son Christopher was born.  In 1979 their daughter Angela was born. As years passed quicky his loving family grew.

Surviving in his family circle include Wife, Vickie of 49 years, Son Chris, daughter Angela Nelson, granddaughter Brooke Altimus and grandson Wyatt Altimus, step-grandsons Blake Thayer and Tyler Thayer, daughter-in-law Sholeigh (Thayer) Pearl, son-in-law Marc Nelson, sister Mary (Pearl) Stryker, brother-in-law Curt Klingerman, and niece Stacy Klingerman. Proceeding Tony in death include his younger sister Teresa Klingerman, parents, grandparents, and several uncles, aunts, cousins. Tony left behind a close, loving, family and, of course a huge Ohio sports collection.  

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 11:00am at St Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Vicksburg.  The family will be greeting friends one hour before in the church narthex. Interment of ashes at Mt Everest Memorial Park, 3941 South Westnedge, Kalamazoo, MI  49008.
