Slack, Betty 3/13/1933 - 8/25/2021 Paw Paw Betty Slack passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born to Adrianna and Blaine Welker on March 13, 1933, at Bronson Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI. Betty loved helping people. She volunteered at a nursing home visiting residents with her Shitzu, Muffin. She was also a volunteer at Bronson hospital, taking pictures of newborns. She was an AVON lady in the 60's and retired from Meijer Thrifty Acres, Store #22. Betty enjoyed crafts. She would come up with craft projects for her weekly coffee clatches with friends. She was also a crochet artist – she made a wedding dress for her youngest daughter and dozens of newborn sweater sets for family and friends. Betty often shipped her homemade cookies to her grandchildren any time they were overseas. From Antarctica to Korea and Kuwait her cookies have been enjoyed by many. Betty was proceeded in death by her husband, James, her son Rodney, and her brothers, Blaine, Larry, Blair and Bob. She is survived by her sister, Gerrie Loveland. Also surviving are her children, Chuck (Lisa) Elliot, Bonnie (Mike) Nye, Jamie (Mark) Whitledge, Linda (Scott) Peterson and Dan Slack. Betty leaves behind many grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews who adored her. She is also survived by her walking partner, Richard, who became a good friend in recent years. A small memorial service will be held at Berkshire Apartments, 308 E. Michigan Ave, Paw Paw this Saturday, August 28, 2021, from 4:00 to 6:00pm. While visiting Betty’s tribute page please take a moment to light a candle or share a memory with the family.
