Brandon Leon Verwey, of Schoolcraft, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the age of 28. He was born on April 23, 1997, and was the son of Bruce and Peggy (Brown) Verwey. Brandon was a vibrant individual whose life, was marked by a profound impact on those who had the privilege to know him.

A proud graduate of Schoolcraft High School, Brandon graduated with the Class of 2016. During these years, he was athletics, participated in both football and wrestling. Following high school, Brandon pursued further education, enriching his knowledge before answering the call to serve his country.

Brandon devoted four commendable years to the United States Marine Corps, where he exhibited dedication, discipline, and a strong sense of duty. His service is a testament to his character, embodying the core values of honor, courage, and commitment. He carried the pride of being a Marine honorably throughout his life, and his time in service shaped him into the courageous and resilient person he became. He served state side and as well as overseas in Norway.

Beyond his military and academic pursuits, Brandon's personality shone brightly. He was known for his humor, energy, and unwavering spirit. Friends and family alike appreciated his strength of will, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, embodying a truly big heart. His genuine kindness touched many lives, and he made a difference in ways both big and small.

In his leisure time, Brandon found joy in riding dirt bikes and participating in paintball. These hobbies allowed him to embrace adventure and explore the great outdoors, reflecting his zest for life and desire for excitement.

Brandon L. Verwey will be greatly missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and service will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. His memory will remain a guiding light to his family and friends, who cherish the moments they shared with a remarkable young man full of promise and life.

He is survived by his parents: Bruce and Peggy Verwey, of Schoolcraft; one brother: Bradley (Elizabeth) Verwey, of New Jersey; two nephews and one niece: Colton, Lawson, and Bailey Verwey; and one grandmother: Pauline Brown, of Fulton.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents: David Brown; John and Ginny Munn; and Dirk Verwey; and one aunt: Aundrea Loucks.

The family will receive friends for a memorial gathering on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, from 1pm to 4pm at the Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Home, Vicksburg location.
