Catherine Rosemary Smith

On September 28, 2020, Catherine Rosemary Smith. passed away at the age of 69. Under the care of her family and hospice. Cathy was born on July 8, 1951 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Robert and Marilyn (Miller)Roth. She grew up in Bridgman, Michigan and graduated with high honors from Western Michigan University, where she met her husband of fifty years David Smith. They resided in Schoolcraft and raised two children, Andrew and Amanda and granddaughter Kayla Smith. Cathy had a deep love for animals including her dog Maggie and three cats. She had a voracious love of reading and a quick-witted sense of humor. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter, Amanda. She is survived by her husband, David, her son, Andrew (Lori), grandchildren, Kayla, Isaiah, Jacob, Gabriel, Sophia and two great grandchildren. Cathy is also survived by two sisters Lisabeth (Glenn) Horak and Carla (Doug) Norwood, one brother, Mayo (Liz) Roth and many nieces and nephews. A private family memorial service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Schoolcraft Community Library.
