Christy Nicole Dendel

Christine “Christy” Dendel passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023, at the age of 48, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor after a two year battle with bile duct cancer.

Christy was born August 19, 1974, in Paw Paw, Michigan, the daughter of Everett and Karen (Myers) Graham.

While serving at New Life Victory Church (formally World Harvest Church) as a young adult she met the love of her life, Stephen Dendel, and on August 5, 1995, she married him.

In her free time, she enjoyed spending time outdoors with her family and friends at the beach, camping and in the backyard around the campfire with a good book. Christy was a devoted member of New Life Victory Church in Kalamazoo. She served for 29 years, including the last 14 where she was on staff as the office administrator and Kid’s Hope Director. Most of her time was spent in the Children’s Ministry as well as leading and coordinating several children’s outreach events. During a lot of that time, she and her husband Stephen also served as elders at the church and loved worshipping with their church family.

She is survived by her husband: Stephen Dendel; her children: Tayler Dendel, Eryn (Corey) Noud, and Trevor (Kirsten) Dendel; her parents: Everett and Karen Graham; and her siblings: Amy (Jim) Thomas and Joe (Jenn) Graham.

She was preceded in death by her sister Kimberly Graham.

A visitation gathering will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Thursday, June 8, 2023 and a Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00am on Friday, June 9, 2023. Both will be held at New Life Victory Church, 2775 S. 26^th St., Kalamazoo, with Pastor Scott Anderson officiating.
