Daniel Ray Shutes

Daniel Shutes, 68, passed away on April 28, 2024, in Kalamazoo, MI. He was born on May 31, 1955, in Vicksburg, MI the son of Myron and Eunice (Smith) Shutes. 

Daniel graduated in the Class of 1975 as Bulldog from Vicksburg High School. Dan got busy working different odd jobs and also had a career for 22 years at the former Kalamazoo Stamping/Tower Automotive plant. 

Dan had a child early with his first wife Brenda and her name was Elaina Joy. Dan later got remarried to Nancy Louise Kohler, who had a child from her previous relationship; Nancy’s son is Craig Steven Kohler. They had three more children throughout their marriage, Amanda Sue, Jason Daniel, and Zachary Daniel.

Dan was a sweet soul, always making light in any situation. He loved spending time fishing and hunting with family and friends although most of his time was spent working to provide for his family which made him the happiest. Dan was well known to everyone in the park where he lived and many in town know of him as well. Dan's personality and kindness drew people close. He was always joking around and having a laugh with those around him. Dan never allowed for any dull moments. 

He was widowed at the age of 61 and within the recent 4 years he had been dealing with health problems which required dialysis. Even up until the end Dan had smiles and was joking with the nurses in his room. Dan passed quickly and peacefully amid sharing laughs at approximately 2:35 am the morning of April 28th from cardiac arrest. 

Dan will be missed by many but never forgotten for he lives within your hearts and memories forever.
