Darrell Rasmussen

Darrell Rasmussen, a beloved member of the community, went to be with the Lord on September 15, 2023, at his home. He was born on October 12, 1962, in Las Vegas, NV. Darrell was an outgoing and spontaneous individual who knew everyone by name and brought life to any gathering. His generous heart and willingness to go above and beyond for others made him truly special.

In his early years, Darrell attended Duarte High School where he graduated in 1980. He excelled in football and even earned the prestigious title of MVP. This achievement showcased his determination and dedication both on and off the field.

Before relocating to Michigan, Darrell owned Oro Dam Bait. Later on, he became the proud owner of Douglas Heating Supply. His hard work and entrepreneurial spirit were evident throughout his career.

Darrell had a passion for grilling and could out-barbecue anyone. He took great joy in serving others with delicious meals cooked on his trusty grill. Additionally, he held a deep love for serving the Lord, finding solace and purpose in his spiritual journey.

Family was of utmost importance to Darrell. Spending time with loved ones brought him immense happiness, and he shared many cherished moments with his adoring family. Known for having a heart bigger than life itself, Darrell taught his children the value of giving and selflessness.

Darrell loved golfing, winning at fantasy football and teaching his Sunday School class.  He taught that class for 15 years. He also loved coaching sports as well.

Darrell will be deeply missed by his wife Diane Rasmussen, whom he shared many joyful years with. He leaves behind his daughter Amanda (Justin) Sowash, son Rich Rasmussen, daughters Carolann Rasmussen and Brianna Rasmussen; as well as mother Carol Rasmussen; brothers Scott (Christine) Ford and Mark Rasmussen; sister Cathy Bowen; and many nieces and nephews. The love and memories they shared will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

Preceding Darrell in death are his father Pete Ford; step-father Richard Rasmussen; and brother Brian Rasmussen.

A visitation service to honor and remember Darrell will take place on September 30, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lighthouse Baptist Church located at 12220 Cressey Road, Plainwell, MI, 49080. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at the church from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A graveside service will then take place at Cressey Cemetery at 12:30 PM.

Darrell Rasmussen was a vibrant soul who brought joy and laughter wherever he went. His giving nature and warm spirit touched the lives of many. As we bid farewell to this remarkable individual, let us remember the incredible impact he had on our lives and carry his legacy of kindness forward.

The family kindly requests that donations be made to the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Darrell's memory. May his soul rest in eternal peace as he joins the Lord.
