David “Dave” Goldy

David “Dave” Goldy, 67, passed away peacefully just before midnight on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Beacon Hospital in Kalamazoo.

Born on June 9, 1958, in Midland, Michigan, Dave was raised with the values of hard work, kindness, and community that would come to define the way he lived his life.

He met his wife, Linda Lou Stebelton, while working at the fairs, and together they built a life rooted in love, family, and hard work. They married in 1982 and settled in Plainwell, Michigan, where they raised their family and shared 36 years together until her passing in 2018.

Dave was a proud father to three daughters: Amanda (Nick) Beckham, Caralee Waswick (Kevin Richmond), and Nicole Goldy (Daniel Davage). He was destined to be a “girl dad,” but that never stopped him from making sure his girls knew how to handle themselves. He taught them how to change spark plugs, read a tape measure, bait their own hooks, and solve problems with confidence and grit.

Dave was one of the kindest people you could ever meet. He could be a little gruff at times, with a low tolerance for ignorance, but beneath that was a man with an enormous heart. He deeply loved his community and his neighbors. He was always the first to offer a helping hand, especially to the seniors in the neighborhood. Much of his free time was spent doing odd jobs, fixing things, lending tools, and helping anyone who needed it.

He truly was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. In fact, if something sat around unused for too long, there was a good chance Dave had already given it away to someone who needed it more.

Dave medically retired from Bunting Bearings in 1996. In his free time, he enjoyed working with his hands, reading, playing euchre, and fishing.

He is survived by his daughters; his cherished grandchildren: Alan, Peyton, Alyssa, Jacob, Piper, Violet, and Emerson; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Elena and Alan Jr.

He is also survived by his siblings: Larry (Emily) Goldy, Kathy (Tony) Bartlett, Rose (Orlando) Burruss, and Paul (Cheryl) Goldy; his beloved brother-in-law, Darwin Martin, who was like a brother to him; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Linda; his parents: Lloyd Goldy and Lynn Sue Merritt; and his brother Theodore Goldy.

Dave will be remembered for his kindness, his willingness to help others, and the quiet ways he made life better for those around him. The family encourages those who knew him to honor his memory by performing a simple act of kindness for someone in need.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christian Neighbors in Plainwell, Michigan.
