David G. Waters of Plainwell passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at his home. Dave was born on August 7, 1943, in Plainwell. He was the son of the late Willard and Marie (Hughes) Waters. He grew up in Plainwell and graduated from Plainwell High School in 1961.

Dave leaves behind a legacy marked by love, strength, and good humor. Dave enjoyed motorcycles, he and his wife belonged to the Gold Wing Touring Association. He spent many hours out on the lake fishing over the years. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during Vietnam 1965 to 1967.

In 1998, Dave met Dawn line dancing at Prairie Schoner. They continued dancing several times a week. Not long after, his dance partner became his life partner when they were married on June 25, 1999.

He dedicated many years to his career as a truck driver. He worked hard and was respected by his colleagues.

Dave is survived by his wife of 25 years, Dawn; his son Jeffery (Jodi) Waters; stepson Michael Eigsti; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Following his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering is being planned on Monday, November 3 at 10:30 at the Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Home; 120 South Woodhams St. Plainwell, MI 49080. Military honors will follow at 12:00 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery; 15501 Dickman Rd, Augusta, MI 49012.
