Dennis Daacon

Dennis Daacon, known affectionately by his friends as "Kingpin," "Slick," and "Leader of the People," peacefully passed away at Kairos Dwelling in Kalamazoo on Monday, August 7, 2023. Born in Wisconsin to John and Delores Daacon, Dennis brought a unique vibrancy to every corner of his life.

He embarked on his journey through East Lombard High School, graduating in 1972, and later found his life's rhythm in the heart of Michigan. Dennis exchanged vows with Deborah on October 10, 1981, a union that brought forth the joyous birth of their daughter, Melody Elizabeth Daacon, on December 13, 1983. Although their paths diverged amicably, the bond between father and daughter remained unbreakable.

Dennis flourished in the world of hospitality and bar management in Kalamazoo, captivating colleagues and friends alike with his magnetic charm. An entertainer by heart, he reveled in the company of his golf and poker companions, etching memories through shared laughter and camaraderie. Music was his chosen language, a conduit for his emotions and thoughts. He often said that the truest expressions were found within the notes and lyrics. Dennis was a dedicated attendee of diverse musical performances, from the grandeur of Emerson, Lake and Palmer to the raw energy of Alice Cooper, the timeless melodies of The Beatles, the artistry of The Nice, and the ethereal sounds of Pink Floyd.

In 2015, Dennis embarked on a new chapter, retiring to the warmth of Phoenix. He remained a steadfast admirer of complex piano compositions, often demonstrating his mastery of intricate pieces, showcasing a piano style uniquely his own.

Dennis's legacy extended beyond his love for music. He shared his time and compassion generously, volunteering both in Kalamazoo and Phoenix, enriching the lives of those he touched. His sense of community and dedication to giving back will forever be remembered.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Delores and John Daacon, and his brother-in-law, Kirt Fiegel. He leaves behind a loving family including his daughters, Melody Daacon and Amber Rodriquez (Geovani); sister, Dixie Fiegel (Kirt); and brother, George Daacon (Sandy);
