Douglas John Fox

FOX, Douglas John Passed away early October 7, 2010 at his home in Portage following a year and a half battle with lung cancer. Doug was born May 24, 1934, to Muriel and Giffard Fox in Dowagiac, MI. Doug was an original electrician for the Kalamazoo Fisher Body plant, retiring in 1995. Doug was a fan of Notre Dame football, and enjoyed fishing and golf. He married his wife of 46 years, Mary Lou (Filley) on April 4, 1964, who survives. Also surviving are sons Trevor (Dale) Fox of Buffalo Gap, TX, Jason Fox (Beth Bortles) of Saline, MI, Jeff (Connie) Fox of Paw Paw, grandchildren Sarah (Chris) Hudson, Shannon Fox, Shane Fox, Savanah Fox, Allison Fox, one great-granddaughter Emilly Hudson and honorary grandson Caleb Kartha Bortles, brother Doyle (Shirley) Fox, sister Jane (Donald) Fritz, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Richard Fox. Cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Special thanks go to Don and Jane Fritz, nurses James and Julie from Borgess Hospice, the University of Michgan Cancer Center and neighbors for their help and tremendous care during Doug's illness.
