Emilia Infantino, of Kalamazoo passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the age of 68. She was born on October 1, 1957, Province of Agrigento, Burgio Sicily Italy. She was the daughter of Calogero and Caterina (Ferrantelli) Infantino. Emilia’s journey through life from her challenging beginnings to becoming a beloved matriarch showcases a remarkable story of strength and resilience.
Emilia's early life was marked by significant adversity; she was born a stillbirth until the Midwife bravely assisted in her delivery. Her family relocated to Chicago, Illinois, when Emilia was just nine years old, but due to illness, she initially remained in Sicily until her health improved. This experience shaped her character, instilling in her a profound sense of responsibility, especially as she assumed the care of her younger siblings while their parents worked.
Throughout her life, Emilia embraced her Sicilian heritage with pride, and it became a cornerstone of her identity. She was a gifted artisan, showcasing her creativity in various ways particularly through her career in jewelry sales. Emilia was not only skilled at crafting exquisite gold jewelry but also demonstrated her versatility by making fans and indulging in arts and crafts, a passion that brought joy to her life. She also enjoyed working at her Uncle and Aunts flower shop.
Emilia was more than a talented craftsman; she was also a nurturing presence, creating a welcoming home filled with love and laughter. Known for her feisty, bubbly personality, she left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Family members fondly recall her merciful nature, humor, and exceptional cooking skills. Her home was often a refuge for loved ones seeking comfort and companionship, with Emilia's famous pies served as a delicious reminder of her generosity and care.
Emilia was blessed with the father of her children: William Adams, Sr., whom she met in the early 1980’s. Emilia took immense pride in her five children and her cherished fifteen grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments and showering them with unconditional love. Her ability to connect with her family was extraordinary; she always made time for those she loved. Her parting words, “I love you all. see you later,” reflected her enduring spirit and hope for the future.
Beyond her family, Emilia found joy in social activities, with her favorite places being the vibrant atmosphere of casinos and bingo halls. These venues provided her with opportunities for connection, fun, and the creation of cherished memories.
Emilia Infantino’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and artistry. She touched the lives of many, imparting lessons of endurance, kindness, and the celebration of family. As we remember Emilia, we honor her journey and the indelible mark she left on our hearts.
She is preceded in death by her granddaughter: Amina Jones; parents: Calogero and Caterina Infantino; and brother: Vito Infantino.
Emilia is survived by her children's father William Adams, Sr., of Kalamazoo; five children: Theresa (Carlos Fields) Attwood, of Kalamazoo; Caterrina (Anthony McEwen) Attwood-Adams, of Lansing; Tee’Aira Adams, of Kalamazoo; Alisha Emilia Adams, of Kalamazoo; and William Calogero (Glorianna) Adams, Jr., of Kalamazoo; and 15 grandchildren. Qu'Vyanna, Gyo'Vonnie, Zy'Vyaire, Xi’Laylah McEwen, Jasmine, Emorie, Sabrina, Mariah Adams, Zamorah, William Adams, Tae'Von DeWalt, Cormariest Jr., Amiyah, Amilyah Jones.She is also survived by her two siblings: Giuseppe (Anna) Infantino, of AZ and Maria (Frank Salazar) Infantino, of IL,Host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11am at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 10am until the time of the service, and then again from noon until 3 pm.
