Eunice LaFountain

Eunice Louise “Tootie” LaFountain, of Plainwell, died Thursday May 7, 2020 at the age of 82. Eunice was born on February 16, 1938 to Max and Helen (Shingledecker) Harrison in Plainwell, Michigan. She passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side. Eunice was an avid member of her church, Doster Community Church, where she volunteered for over 50 years - running Holiday food drives for the church for over 35 years. Eunice also worked and retired from Parker Hannifin in Otsego. When Eunice wasn’t volunteering or working, she loved summers with her kids when they stayed in cabins along the lake where they grilled and fished together. She also loved country music. But above all, Eunice loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her son Steven LaFountain; daughter Deborah Smith; two sisters, one brother, nine grandchildren and 14 great grand children. She is preceded in death by her husband Louis Edward Sr., son Louis Edward Jr., three brothers, one sister and one great grandchild. The family is being assisted by the McCowen & Secord Funeral Home; Marshall & Gren Chapel, 120 S. Woodhams St. Plainwell, MI 49080 (269-685-5881). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Doster Community Church Outreach Ministries: 12145 Doster Road, Plainwell MI 49080.

Tootie, was a very special person. She could be very opinionated at times, but that was a good thing. Dan and I have been friends of the Harrison Family for many years. She has had some very good support from her children and her Brother Bill, sisters Sandy and Sally. Tootie gave so much of herself to her children, her family, her church and her community. She was one of the friendliest ,sweetest persons that I have ever known. Dan and I want to extend our deepest and most sincere sympathy to the entire family. We know Tootie is going to be missed dearly. May she rest in peace. Sandy and Dan Fleming

What a kind hearted beautiful person Tootie was. I had the pleasure of knowing Tootie through our employer Parker Hannifin. She was my supervisor for many years before retiring from Parker. She always was fair and cared about her employees. Tootie encouraged me to finish college and pushed me to be a better person. Thank you Tootie you will be missed.
