Ford Hess

Ford (Butch) Hess of Portage, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday May 30^th, surrounded by his family. Ford was born March 1, 1943; in Three Rivers, MI. He was the son of Norman and Barbara (Loukes) Hess.

He met Maude while attending Portage Public Schools. They were married on August 31, 1963. Together they had four children.

Ford retired from A-1 Auto Body in 2006. His passion was automobiles, both mechanical and body work. The family joke was if your car sat in his driveway too long, he would put pinstripes on it. He also enjoyed walking the local trails and riding his bike.

Ford loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He also considered his neighbors to be great friends who watched out for one another.

Ford was preceded in death by his wife, Maude. He is survived by his children: Robin (Randy) Simmons, of Scotts; Karen (Jon) Martin of Galesburg; Jody Hess (Jean Manzullo) of Portage; and Bret Hess of Portage. He had many grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
