Frances Jane Bean

Frances Bean On Tuesday, November 3, 2020 Frances Jane Bean passed away peacefully at home following a courageous battle with cancer. Fran was born in Kalamazoo Mi on May 18, 1962 as the youngest of 5 children. A few years after high school, Fran set her mind on becoming a teacher and soon after graduated from Western Michigan University. Fran taught 2nd Grade for 18 years in the Gull Lake School District. For many years Fran provided education and excitement to the entire elementary school with her “Caterpillar to Butterfly” live exhibits. Fran was very talented in Photography and was the official family photographer, often creating collage pictures to share with family members. For many years Fran was the primary contact for her Mother living at Friendship Village, working with the nurses and taking her Mother to most of her doctor appointments, to restaurants, and of course shopping. Fran had special relationships with many of her nieces and nephews and will be remembered by them as the “fun Aunt” who organized special games for the kids at family gatherings. Fran has been a strong promoter of the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk for many years by encouraging participation of friends and family. Fran met the love of her life, Michael and they have spent the last 37 years sharing many adventures and travels together. Fran and Mike shared a love for nature and animals at their rural home in Delton Mi. Their dogs and cats were considered “part of the family” and treated as such. Fran will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Wm. Michael Bean as well as her siblings David (Marilyn) Burgie, Virginia Barber, Richard (Jackie) Burgie, Don (Jackie) Burgie, and many nieces and nephews. Fran was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Agnes Burgie of Kalamazoo Mi. The family is being assisted by the McCowen & Secord Funeral Home; Marshall & Gren Chapel, 120 S. Woodhams St. Plainwell, MI 49080 (269-685-5881). Mrs. Bean was my second grade teacher a whopping 11 years ago. I'm 18 now. She was such a great woman and had a sense of humor as well as kindness that she constantly shared with the class. She will be missed❤️

Im very sorry to hear this. I shared students with Fran at Kellogg and she was always so supportive and a #1 cheerleader for her kids. She loved her animals, too. Peace and comfort to Mike and family. Angie Bell

Fran always helped the family with pictures and displays at the funeral home. Ive tried to find pictures of her with family and friends, and as a teacher, that we can post. I hope these help everyone with memories of her. They show a lot we all loved about her life. Ill miss my little sister a lot. If your here reading this, I know you will also. We appreciate all the family and friends that called, visited, helped in many ways, and cared for Fran. Thank you Mike for being there, for so long, loving her and taking such good care of Fran through difficult health issues, youre our hero.

My sympathy to your family. I only knew Fran for a few years at Richland Elem. but always enjoyed working with her. She was the biggest advocate for her students. She will be missed.
