George William Hodgman

George W. Hodgman, Sr, of Vicksburg passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the age of 84. George was born on October 14, 1935 in Kalamazoo. He was the son of Albert and Ruth (Kaiser) Hodgman. On February 14, 1959 he married the love of his life, Margie Keyes. George’s family describes him as being selfless, caring and extremely handy craftsman. He was known for tinkering in his garage, but most important to him was spending time with his family. George worked for the Vicksburg Department of Public Works for 38 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed his horses and racing stock cars in his younger years. George is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margie; two children: George (Carolyn) Hodgman, Jr. of FL; Ruth Polmanteer, of Vicksburg; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren who he loved unconditionally. He is also survived by his two siblings: John (Jackie) Hodgman, of Vicksburg; Claudia Burgess, of Vicksburg and his mother-in-law: Veronica Keyes, of Portage; and several nieces and nephews. According George’s wishes he has been cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. I will always remember the saying that George used when he seen us working on a main break. With a smile on his face He would say I see you have one of them there natural artesian fountains ,And then say better you than me. He was a great man and will be greatly missed but not forgotten. Thoughts and prayers for everyone.

I only had the pleasure of knowing George and his wonderful family for a short time. However, in that short time I could see how much he loved his family and how much they loved him. I have been blessed by knowing him. I pray for peace and comfort for his living family. Karen Tennant- Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan
