Gerald Houghton

Gerald A Houghton 'Jerry', age 89, a lifelong resident of Vicksburg passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Jerry was born on October 6, 1935, in Vicksburg to Howard & Sophia (Fritz) Houghton.

He served in the U. S. Army from 1955- 1957. He started working in his father's machine shop after returning from the service. He retired from HMC in 1999.

Jerry was the youngest of 5 siblings all of whom have preceded him in death. On September 26, 1958, he married Mildred Houghton (Miller).

Jerry is survived by his wife, Millie; 2 children: his daughter Susan Ladue (Wayne) of Texas and his son Matthew Houghton of Vicksburg. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Jason Josuns (Jackie) of Vicksburg and Bailee Eberstein (Nick Rance) of Fort Wayne, Indiana as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jerry and Millie loved adventure. They could be found traveling from coast to coast in their Roadtrek, fishing in sunset lake, or wintering in their home in Texas. No matter the adventure, they were always together.

A military interment will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
