Kalamazoo

Gloria Jeanne Senne passed away early Saturday morning, August 26 at the age of 96 years. She was born in Kalamazoo on June 9, 1927.   Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Harry W. Gray and Eva (Sizer) Gray, and her stepmother Martha Gray.  Also preceding her were her husband, Frank, who died in 2016 after 68 years of marriage, her brothers Bill Gray, and Harry Gray, and her sister Delores Gray Doty.  She is survived by a remaining sister Carolyn Fish of Portage, and three wonderful children: Keith (Laurie) Senne whom she lived with in Texas Township, Sharon (Jerry) Cross of Richland, and Scott Senne of Kalamazoo.  She also leaves behind a very special friend, Bill Canfield.

She has two surviving grandchildren, Lindsey (Joe Splendorio) and Shelly (Jason Henderson), and lost her grandson Ryan Doty two years ago.  She has 6 great grandchildren, Megan (Henderson), Dominic, Gabby and Alex (Splendorio), and Avery and Kaelyn (Doty).

Gloria worked at the BPOElks #50 Country Club for 26 years where she was the manager of the dining department and also was head waitress, scheduler, trainer, and employment manager.  She had many special friends and customers that would request her when they came in to dine. Throughout the years, she maintained friendships with numerous customers as well as the employees she worked with.

Gloria loved all kinds of animals and received special joy watching the deer and wild turkeys outside her bedroom window.  She had a deep love for dogs of any kind and raised many during her life.  In recent years, she enjoyed spending her birthdays (also Keith’s birthday) at Gun Lake Casino where she would play the slots and enjoy a family dinner.  She also enjoyed reading novels and working on word-search puzzles.

She was well-known for her cooking and handed down many recipes to her children and grandchildren.  Throughout her earlier years, she would be the hostess to many family outings with children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters.

By her request, she has been cremated, and a family-only memorial service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to any local Humane Society or Hospice Organization.
