Honey Joyce (Edwards) Handy, of Portage, formerly of Schoolcraft passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at the age of 83. Honey was born on October 3, 1942, in Kalamazoo. She was the daughter of Ord and Joyce (Drake) Edwards.

She was a graduate of Schoolcraft High School. She went on to build a career and retired from Pharmacia, formerly Upjohn Company, where she worked as a secretary.

Honey will be remembered as a social, faithful, and loving woman with a great sense of humor. She loved to travel and enjoyed memorable trips to places such as Alaska and Iceland. She also found happiness in simple pleasures and favorite pastimes, including playing cards, reading, and playing Bingo.

Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Schoolcraft. For decades, she spent her summers on property at Oak Shores in Decatur, Michigan.

Those who knew Honey will remember her warmth, her laughter, and the joy she brought to others through her companionship and spirit. Her life was marked by devotion to her faith, enjoyment of time spent with others, and an appreciation for both adventure and everyday pleasures.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Pud Handy; parents: Ord and Joyce Edwards; two siblings: Lee Edwards and Joan Edwards; and companion: Robert Bradshaw.

Honey was survived by her two children: Mike Axtell, of Kalamazoo; and Debbie (Jeremy Germain) Axtell, of Portage; and two grandchildren: Brady and Cody Gillaspie, of Portage.

Honey has been cremated and no services are planned at this time.
