Horst Jendralski

Horst Harold Jendralski, born on September 15, 1935, in Upper Silesia, Germany, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the age of 88. He was the beloved son and youngest of eight to Felix Jendralski and Elisabeth Schaffranek.

Due to the fighting during World War II the family lost their homeland and had to flee from the Russian Army. They moved many times before settling in Braunschweig, Germany. It was there that Horst completed his apprenticeship as an auto mechanic.

In 1956, Horst embarked on a new chapter of his life by immigrating to the United States alongside his brother, Alfred Jendralski. A proud and dedicated member of the US Army during the Korean War, Horst was stationed in Germany, where he met and married the love of his life, Greta. In 1960, they returned to the United States with their six-month-old daughter, Gabriele.

Horst and Greta's love story began on October 17, 1959, when they exchanged vows and embarked on a journey that spanned over six decades. Their union blessed them with two children, Gabriele (Mark) Lanting and Cornelia Webb. Horst's legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Eric (Amanda) Lanting, Andrew Lanting, Harrison Webb, Olivia Webb, and great-grandchildren Dylan Lanting and Case Lanting.

Horst found joy in simple pleasures and shared countless memorable moments with his family. An avid NFL football enthusiast, he also enjoyed playing golf with his beloved Greta, fishing and boating, cross-country skiing, playing cards, and leisurely walks in the woods with Greta. His passion for golf extended beyond his own enjoyment, as he instilled a love for the sport in his grandchildren, Eric and Drew.

Together with Greta, Horst explored the world, creating cherished memories on vacations to Alaska, Mexico, Germany, Hawaii, Brazil, and beyond. Their adventurous spirit and love for life were evident in every journey they undertook.

Horst was not only a dedicated family man but also a successful entrepreneur. For 22 years, he owned and operated Mr. J's Sewing Center with Greta, creating a legacy that continues to thrive. Their hard work and dedication culminated in their well-deserved retirement in 1997. He was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church.

Horst Harold Jendralski will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather and great-grandfather. His spirit, resilience, and love for life will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love that he so generously shared throughout his remarkable life.

In accordance with the family’s wishes cremation has taken place and Horst will be laid to rest a Ft. Custer National Cemetery on a later date.
