Ida Elaine Sprague Ida was born September 17, 1921, to Delbert and Ruth (Jones) Sherwood. She lived in Otsego her entire life. Ida graduated from Otsego High School in 1939 and attended Maher’s Business College in Kalamazoo. She had worked in offices at Fuller Mfg., Otsego Falls, State Farm Insurance and as a bookkeeper for Sprague Machine Shop. February 14, 1940, Ida married Elwyn Sprague and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage until his death October 21, 2000. Ida was a member of First Congregational Church and enjoyed 16 years working on the newsletter mailing team. Ida was also an assistant Brownie leader for five years. Her hobbies include bowling, golf, cards, dancing, reading and piecing quilts. Surviving are daughters Lana Mason and Deanna Hinkle, granddaughter Ronda (Jeffrey) Conner, great-grandsons Keenan (Taylor) Conner and Colin (Alli Kline) Conner. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Eugene Sherwood, Richard Cronen and Francis Cronen; sisters Naila Watson, Delberta Brundage and son-in-law Ronald Hinkle. Memorials may be directed to Christian Neighbors, 283 12th Street, Plainwell, MI 49080. There will be no visitation. Private burial at Mountain Home Cemetery.
