Ida Verschoof

Ida Corinne (Moerman) Verschoof, age 89, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, May 23, 2025. Born on December 26, 1935, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, she was the daughter of Marinus and Margaret (Vanderzee) Moerman.

A lifelong resident of the Kalamazoo area, Ida was a devoted member of Second Reformed Church, where her love of music shone brightly as she sang joyfully in the choir. Her faith and her voice were both steady sources of inspiration and comfort to all who knew her.

On March 2, 1957, she married the love of her life, Duane Verschoof, with whom she shared sixty-two cherished years until his passing. She was also preceded in death by their beloved daughter, Dian Verschoof, brothers John and Ivan Moerman, and her parents.

Ida's legacy lives on through her loving son, Wade Verschoof; her grandchildren, Katie Akers, Christopher (Melissa) Verschoof, Elsye (Doug) Strahle, and John "Duie" Zupko; her four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews who will remember her with affection and gratitude.

Ida's life was marked by quiet strength, deep devotion to her family, and a steadfast faith. She will be missed dearly and remembered always.

In accordance with her family's wishes, cremation has taken place. Ida will be laid to rest alongside Duane at Fort Custer National Cemetery on a date yet to be determined.
