India Francis Grimm "Fran"

Fran was born on April 9, 1929, to Howard & Pearl Prolo. She grew up in the Plainwell area and graduated from Plainwell High School in 1947. While working in the onion fields, she met Lester Grimm.  They were married on February 4, 1948.

Fran was a homemaker.  She enjoyed sewing and making quilts.  Fran enjoyed traveling. She took trips to Las Vegas with her sister-in-law and was always ready for a trip with anyone that wanted to go.  Fran was an excellent cook – she was known for her homemade noodles.  Content with the view from her window, she enjoyed watching the birds, squirrels, and wildlife. She also loved jigsaw puzzles.

More than anything Fran loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. 

Fran is preceded in her passing by her parents and her husband of over 50 years, Lester; four brothers and three sisters as well as her grandson Michael.

Left to cherish her loving memory are her children: Sidney Grimm, Leslie (Walter) Freund, Pat (Keith) Town, Ray (Kathy) Grimm, and Brenda Grimm; 7 grandchildren: Mary Jo, Cathy, Kris, Rob, Allison, and Katie; 5 great grandchildren; 5 great – great grandchildren; two brothers: Dean and Jerry as well as several nieces and nephews. And many others because if you came out to the house, you were family.

In accordance with the family’s wishes a visitation will take place at Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Homes, 120 South Woodhams Street, Plainwell, MI 49080, on Sunday, June 4, 2023, from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.   A funeral service will follow on Monday, June 5, at 1:00 at the same location.  Following the Funeral, Fran will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in Gun Plain Township.

Memorials made in Fran’s memory may be directed to the Wings of Hope Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
