Jack E. Anderson

Jack Eugene Anderson, of Kalamazoo passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the age of 85. Jack was born on April 6, 1938 in Newberry, MI. He was the son of Jack I. Anderson and Bernadine Hillman. Jack was a graduate of Newberry High School with the Class of 1956. After high school he attended Central Michigan University before transferring to Michigan State University and completing his Master’s degree in 1963. Jack was employed by the Michigan Department of Community Health. Before retiring in 1991 he became the Director of Newberry Regional Health Center. After which lead him to his marriage to Carol Mallion. Together they were members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kalamazoo, where Jack was a Eucharistic Minister. His hobbies included playing golf. His family will remember him as a kind and giving person that had a great sense of humor.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents: Jack I. Anderson and Bernadine Hillman.

He is survived by his wife: Carol; five children: Steve Anderson, of Kalamazoo; Susan (Bill) Gooseberry, of Negaunee; Sarah (Bryan) Schroeder, of Negaunee; Jennifer (Joel) Silva, of Grandville; and Jina (Steve) Lotz, of Battle Creek; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters: Darlene Panerio and Lois (Rock) Whitehead.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on August 2, 2023 at 11am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 939 Charlotte Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI. A rosary will be held prior to the service at the church beginning at 10:30am.
