Listen to Obituary

Rev. James W. Duncan, a devoted pastor, loving father, and proud grandfather, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and service.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Esie Duncan, and his beloved wife, Linda, whom he cherished deeply throughout their life together.

He is survived by his sister, Beverly (Kurt) Wold; sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren: his three sons, Jason (Lisa), Brennen (Sally), and Jonathan (Kady); and his nine grandchildren, AlysaAidenBaelin, Logan, Sydney, Faith, Eli, Jamie, and Winnie, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

James was raised on a small dairy farm in Fowlerville, Michigan, where he developed a strong work ethic while helping his parents care for livestock. His early life shaped his character and instilled in him a lifelong appreciation for hard work and stewardship.

He went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Dairy Science from Michigan State University and began his career working with MABC, assisting in cattle breeding. Answering a higher calling, James later entered full-time ministry, earning his Master's degree in Ministry from Bethel College.

Throughout his years of service, Rev. Duncan faithfully pastored congregations in East Jordan, Michigan; St. Paris, Ohio; and Berrien Springs, Michigan. His ministry was marked by compassion, dedication, and a deep commitment to his faith and community.

Above all, James loved spending time with his sons and grandchildren. Whether sharing stories, offering guidance, or simply enjoying their company, his family was the center of his life.

He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his servant's heart, and the love he gave so freely to those around him.
