James “Jim” Lloyd Harber, age 71, a proud lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
Born on April 15, 1954, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Jim was the beloved son of Lloyd and Joyce Harber. He was one of three children and the only boy, growing up alongside his sisters Nancy and Norma. From a young age, Jim displayed a deep passion for mechanics and craftsmanship—he loved motorcycles and old cars, and once built a chopper by hand, which remained one of his most prized possessions.
Jim graduated from Vicksburg High School with the class of 1972 and went on to build a life rooted in hard work and dedication. He owned and operated Harber Siding, a well-respected siding company in Vicksburg, and remained deeply involved in construction throughout his life. He also contributed to the development of Angels Crossing Golf Club, working with the farm that helped bring the course to life.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Jim found joy in restoring vintage cars, watching classic TV westerns, and cheering on his favorite football teams. His love for the open road and the roar of a motorcycle engine were emblematic of his spirited and independent nature.
Jim is survived by his two sons: Joshua Harber and Matthew Harber, granddaughter: Savannah Harber. He is also survived by niece: Jennifer Cassel and nephew: Richard Mays, along with many friends and neighbors who will miss his wit, warmth, and unwavering loyalty.
In accordance with Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at a later date to honor his life and legacy.
James “Jim” Lloyd Harber will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love of family and community, and the way he lived life on his own terms—with grit, heart, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys.
