James Edward Hollingsworth, of Vicksburg passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025 at the age of 81. He was born on February 26, 1944, in Kalamazoo, MI. Jim was the son of Norvin and Pauline (Walendorf) Hollingsworth.

One of James’s proudest accomplishments was his marriage to his wife Cherie (maiden name: Drew) on October 1, 1983. Together, they raised two children, Jamie and Jimmy, who meant the world to him. His family was at the heart of everything he did, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

He was known for his unwavering dedication and vibrant spirit. James devoted a significant part of his life to driving trucks, concluding his career with KMR, where he worked for the last seven years. His commitment to his job was a testament to his work ethic, which was admired by all who knew him.

James was deeply proud of his family home, and always found joy out in the sun mowing the lawn to golf green height. He wasn't a man who shied away from a hard day’s work. As he was fond of saying: “Rome wasn't built in a day, but they didn't know it would take so many days”.

In addition to his love for family and home, James had a passion for racing. In his younger days he spent many weekends racing at Kalamazoo Speedway and Galesburg Speedway. In his later years, he switched to watching NASCAR in the living room with his family.

James’s character shone through in his selfless and giving nature. Friends and family remember him having a heart of gold, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer support. His practical skills were legendary; he had a knack for fixing anything. If it had an engine he could fix it and drive it.

As we celebrate the life of James Edward Hollingsworth, we remember a man who exemplified hard work, passion, and love. His legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Norvin and Pauline Hollingsworth and his special Aunt Edna Dinkle.

Jim was survived by his wife of 42 years, Cherie; two children: Jamie (Brian) Schiedel, of Vicksburg; Jimmy (Jessica) Hollingsworth, of Kalamazoo; three grandchildren: Kenzie Schiedel, Evan Schiedel, and Nolan Schiedel all of Vicksburg. He is also survived by his brother: Jay (Pam) Hollingsworth, of Portage; several nieces and nephews; and two great nephews: Derek and Dominic Wolgast, of Vicksburg.

Jim has been cremated, and a celebration of his life is planned for a later date.
