James Allan Masters

James Allan Masters, age 47, of Allegan, Michigan, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026.

Born on July 9, 1979, in Centralia, Illinois, James was raised in Salem by his grandparents, Lowell (Kern) and Betty Masters, who played an important role in his early life.

On May 27, 2006, James married the love of his life, JoDanna "Jodi" Lynn Craig, in Dix, Illinois. Together they shared a deep bond built on laughter, adventure, friendship, and unwavering love.

James spent 14 years on Florida's beautiful Treasure Coast, where he and Jodi built a life together, made lasting friendships, and enjoyed countless adventures. After starting a family, they decided to make the move to West Michigan nine years ago, where they continued building their family and creating new memories together.

A lifelong technology enthusiast, James began his career in information technology in 2006 and spent the next two decades doing what came naturally to him: solving problems and helping people. Most recently, he worked as an IT Service Happiness Technician for Newmind Group in Kalamazoo. Proud to be a "Newmind Nerd," James loved the challenge of technology, but even more, he enjoyed the opportunity to make someone's day a little easier.

To know James was to know someone who was always ready to help. Whether it was fixing a computer, lending a tool, offering advice, helping a friend move, or simply showing up when someone needed him, James never hesitated to lend a hand. His generous spirit, kind heart, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

When he wasn't working, James embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. He was a devoted Marvel fan, an avid gamer, and someone who loved using technology to solve problems, customize things to fit his needs, and help others do the same. He proudly cheered for the St. Louis Blues, enjoyed grilling and smoking meats for family and friends, and rarely passed up an opportunity to share a laugh.

James was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lowell (Kern) and Betty Masters, and Marvy and June Austin.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, JoDanna "Jodi" Masters; his children, Alanna, Lilliana, and Olivia; his sister, Debi (Matt) Beard; his niece and nephews, Cody, Cole, and Caraline; and many extended family members, friends, coworkers, and countless people whose lives were made better simply by knowing him.

In accordance with the family's wishes, cremation has taken place, and services will be announced at a later date.

James will be remembered for his giving heart, quick wit, playful spirit, and legendary collection of dad jokes. He had a gift for finding humor in everyday life, making people feel welcome, and turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. Though he will be deeply missed, those who loved him will forever carry forward the laughter, kindness, and generosity he shared so freely with the world.
