James Joseph Merchant

James Joseph Merchant, age 82, of Martin, passed away with family by his side on July 29, 2020. Jim was born on November 24, 1937 to Harry & Mary (Marshall) Merchant. Following Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service is being planned for later. Jim’s family includes his wife of 62 years, Barbara; his children Cindy (Tim) Taylor and Diane (Mike) Long; grandchildren: Joe (Daron) Taylor, Luke (Katie) Taylor, Casey tenHaaf and Molly Long; ten great grandchildren: Keaton, Ashtyn, Chase, Zavier, Quintin, Archer, Paxton, Everett, Brooklynn, and Jaxson as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Dorothy, Peggy and Francis. Jim served his country proudly in the Army Reserve and National Guard. Jim was “Papa” to his great grandchildren and loved his family deeply.
