James Albert Sheibels went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2026, at the age of 79. James was born to Robert and Esther Sheibels on June 17, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan. As a child, James enjoyed playing baseball, golf, and running track, as well as spending time with his two younger brothers.

After high school, James attended Western Michigan University, where he earned his bachelor's degree, majoring in psychology with minors in biology and social sciences. He went on to become a licensed respiratory therapist. Throughout his career, he worked at Bronson Hospital and Allegan Hospital, eventually serving as the director of his department.

James's greatest passion in life was music. He loved acting and singing in local theaters and lodges, sharing his talent and enthusiasm with those around him. He was also dedicated to improving his community and spent countless hours volunteering on projects such as the Jaycee Park project and Bridgefest.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Esther Sheibels. He is survived by Barbara Sheibels, the mother of his children; his two sons, Timothy (Brittany) Sheibels and Steven Sheibels; his brothers, Paul Sheibels and Ken Sheibels; his nephews, Christopher Sheibels and Jonathan Sheibels; his nieces, Lauren Auerbach and Natalie Savarino; and his grandchildren, Memphis and Griffin Sheibels.

A visitation will be held at Allegan Church of God; 1313 Marshall St. Allegan, Michigan, 49010 on Monday, July 13, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. A private graveside service for the family will be held following the church service.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
