Jeffrey D Allen left this earth in August 2026 and was received by his Lord Jesus. His family is grieving, but knows he is totally cured in mind and body from the terrible disease of Alzheimer's
Jeff was born in 1956, the second son of Don and Virginia (nee Kelso) Allen in Plainwell, Michigan, and grew up there. He grew up in a great neighborhood full of kids that remained friends his entire life. They biked until the streetlights came on, played street baseball and did all the things kids did in the 1950s. He had many fond memories of his childhood.
Jeff had plans to become an auto-shop teacher, but plans changed when doctors found a large brain tumor when he was 18. He received radiation therapy after surgery couldn't resolve it. He recovered and went on to work at Borgess Hospital as an EEG technician for 37 years.
He married Linda Zamora in 1978, who he had met at Borgess, and they had two daughters, Erin (Plainwell), and Jessie (Richland). Linda passed away in 2015
In 2018 he married Jean Shinabarger and moved to a neutral site, close to family members in Plainwell, Richland, Paw Paw and Battle Creek.
He is survived by his wife Jean, daughters Erin and Jessie (Jeff Burnell), five grandchildren and many cousins. He loved hunting and fishing and could tell many stories about those activities.
Cremation has taken place, according to his wishes. Services will be at Plainwell First Methodist Church; 200 Park St, Plainwell, MI 49080, on October 11th, with visitation there at 1-2 p.m. Service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Sue's Loving Care Adult Foster Care Home, or Plainwell First Methodist Church.
While visiting Jeff’s webpage at www.amsfuneralhomes.com please sign the guestbook and/or share a memory with the family.
The family is being assisted by the Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Homes and Cremation Society, 120 S. Woodhams St. Plainwell, MI 49080 (269-685-5881).
