Jerry Ralph Fruehauf, of Vicksburg, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, after a short and courageous battle with lung cancer. He was 61.
Jerry was born on August 3, 1964, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, one of eight children born to Emil and Norma (Carpenter) Fruehauf Jr. He graduated from Vicksburg High School and went on to build a remarkable career with Meijer, where he worked for an extraordinary forty-one years, serving as a manager and earning the respect of coworkers and customers alike through his dedication, reliability, and steady presence.
Jerry made his home in Vicksburg, a community he loved. He found joy in simple pleasures-spending time at the beach, soaking up the sun, and listening to his favorite music, especially Elvis and classic rock 'n' roll. He recently enjoyed a memorable family trip to Kentucky, creating moments that will be cherished by those who shared it with him. Above all, Jerry adored his cat, Callie, who was truly the love of his life and a constant source of comfort and companionship.
He also treasured the lifelong friendship he shared with Nancy Tabor Meyer, whose bond brought him years of laughter, loyalty, and meaningful connection.
Jerry is survived by his siblings: Becky (Phil Bauer) Searles, Mike (Michelle) Fruehauf, Dick (Judy) Fruehauf, Jeff (Jami) Fruehauf, Dan (Gail) Fruehauf, Vicky (Gene) Emmons, and Tom (Karla) Fruehauf; his child, Dustin Fruehauf; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Norma Fruehauf Jr., and his brother-in-law, Dave Searles.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 30, at noon at Vicksburg Cemetery, followed immediately by a Celebration of Life at Vicksburg Bible Church, with dessert to conclude the gathering. The church is located at 11988 S. Sprinkle Rd., Vicksburg, MI 49097.
Memorial contributions in Jerry's name may be directed to Vicksburg Bible Church or Kairos Dwelling.
Jerry will be remembered for his loyalty, his gentle spirit, his love of music and sunshine, and the deep affection he held for family, friends, and Callie. Though he is gone, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain forever.
