Joe was there for me during some extremely difficult times in my life. He was wise, steady, and strong, and a good friend that I could always count on. We had a lot of good laughs, and I have a lot of good memories. He cared about my daughters too, especially my eldest daughter Joanne. He had her back, even tho' she never knew. His heart was bigger than most people knew, and I feel blessed that he felt safe showing me that soft side of his heart and soul that most people were not allowed to see. He was a really good friend to me and I will miss him forever. Fly Free my friend, because you've got your legs back, and now you have wings too! Bless your heart, and thanks for all of the many laughs we shared. I will always smile when I think of you walking tall and strong and smiling at me.

So sad to hear about Joe. He was a grade behind me at Vicksburg. Though I didn’t know him all that well, I had nothing but good interactions with Joe. My prayers and condolences for his family and friends on his passing.
