John "Johnnie" Paul Boysen, 47, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Born on June 30, 1978, in Plainwell, MI, to Paul and Peggy (Hayes) Boysen, Johnnie grew up surrounded by family, friends, and a deep love for the outdoors that would stay with him throughout his life.

For the past thirteen years, Johnnie worked at West Michigan Scales in Plainwell, where he was known for his strong work ethic, dependable nature, and easygoing personality. Whether on the job or out and about, he had a way of making everyone feel like an old friend-quick with a story, a laugh, or a helping hand.

In his free time, Johnnie could almost always be found doing what he loved most-hunting and fishing. Early in his relationship with Cheryl, he made it clear that his time on the water was sacred, and she loved him all the more for it. His pride and joy was his 1985 Ranger Classic bass fishing boat, and he often talked about his next dream project: finding a 1969 Plymouth Barracuda.

Family and friends were the heart of Johnnie's world. Sundays were reserved for visiting his mom, and he cherished every moment spent with loved ones. He was the kind of person who could strike up a conversation with anyone, make them laugh within minutes, and leave them smiling long after.

Johnnie will be forever missed by his wife, Cheryl Boysen; his mother; his siblings, Kim (Chris) Ortega, Toni (Jim) McDonald, Michelle Wesaw, Laura (Tony) Graff, Scott (Melissa) Boysen, and Todd Boysen; his many nieces and nephews, Khett Stevenson, Cameron (Amanda) Stevenson, Trevor Stevenson, Jennifer Murray, Casey (Dan) Johnson, Nikki Arredondo, Melanie Boysen, Jessica Stevenson, Tarah Boysen, Ashley (Andy) Kowers, and Shannon Hurlbert; and his dear friends Nic Hammond, Chad Hillard, Clayton Bonawitz, and Shawn Murphy.

He leaves behind countless memories, a legacy of laughter, and a reminder to live life with kindness, curiosity, and a good sense of humor.

There will be a Celebration of Life in the summer of 2026 where everyone can celebrate Johnnie outside where he loved to be.
