John "Jack" Kenneth Adams

John Kenneth Adams, 96, of Kalamazoo, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, just two weeks before his 97th birthday.

Born December 9, 1928, John spent more than three decades as a beloved school counselor with Kalamazoo Public Schools, guiding generations of students with his calm wisdom, patience, and genuine care.

John was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Burns Adams, with whom he shared many happy years; his brother, Steve Adams; and his stepsons Jeffrey Eldridge (2007) and Jon (Jonny) Eldridge (2011), whom he loved deeply and helped raise for many years.

In 1990 John married Nancy Ruth Sweet-Adams, and together they shared 35 joyful years filled with love and adventure. Nancy survives him.

He is also survived by his three children: Jack Adams and his wife Lynn Kunze Adams, Becky Slezak, and Bill Adams and his wife MaryBeth Adams; his stepson James Eldridge; eight cherished grandchildren: Ben, Jeremy, Andrew, Chris, Bill, Scott, Jake, and Jeff; and ten great-grandchildren who brought him endless delight.

In retirement, John lived life to the fullest. An avid golfer, private pilot, and motorcycle enthusiast, he loved flying his plane, chatting with friends across the country on his CB radio, and riding the open road. Summers were spent “up north” at his cottage in Cheboygan, where family gathered to make memories around the campfire and on the water—moments he treasured most.

John touched everyone he met with his kindness and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
