John Tetzlaff, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on May 1, 2024, in Kalamazoo, MI, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 17, 1938, to Robert Tetzlaff and H. Jean VanderMate Tetzlaff in Kalamazoo, MI. John was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Nancy Drobny, and brother-in-law Frank Drobny.
John's memory will forever be cherished by his devoted wife, Charlotte, his loving daughter, Amy, his sister, Barbara Tetzlaff, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
John dedicated much of his life to his work, serving as a Quality Control Inspector at General Motors until his retirement. His commitment and reliability were evident in every task he undertook. Even after retiring, John continued to serve, finding purpose and fulfillment in his role at the Sisters of St. Joseph at Nazareth in Kalamazoo, MI.
A deeply spiritual man, John's faith was a guiding light throughout his life. He was a pillar of strength and support within his community, actively involved as a member at St. Margaret Church for over 50 years, where he helped serve at Mass, participated in the Knights of Columbus, and visited shut-ins to brighten their days. His compassion and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him.
In his leisure time, John found joy in exploring new places, particularly the serene landscapes of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. He delighted in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was trying his luck at the casino, solving crossword puzzles, or indulging in lotto scratch-off tickets. His curiosity knew no bounds, as evidenced by his avid reading of newspapers from far and wide. John's vast knowledge made him an invaluable teammate in trivia games, where his sharp wit and quick thinking always prevailed.
John had a deep appreciation for the arts, enjoying the theater and a diverse range of music, from symphonic to country melodies. His love for life's rich tapestry of experiences was infectious, inspiring those around him to embrace every moment with enthusiasm and gratitude.
In honoring John's memory, let us remember his unwavering spirit, his unwavering dedication to family, and his unwavering faith. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
