Joyce Elizabeth Blodgett

Joyce Elizabeth Blodgett of Schoolcraft, MI peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the age of 82. She was born on September 6, 1938 in Kalamazoo, MI the oldest daughter of Lester and Helen (Wright) Ryskamp. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1956. In her younger years she won many 4-H ribbons raising steers and for her sewing. Her love of sewing and quilting continued throughout her life, she will always be remembered for her personalized gifts. On September 7, 1957 she married the late Andrew D. Blodgett. They were married for 33 years and had six children together. Joyce was very well known in Schoolcraft, having raised all six of her children there. Living across the street from the high school made their home the “go to” spot for many of the kids in town after school and sporting events. Andy and Joyce opened the first Blodgett family business, Green Acres, in 1967, and later Andrea’s Flower Shop located on US 131 in Schoolcraft. She worked over 20 years at Hudson’s and retired from Macy’s. She is preceded in her passing by her son: Andrew G. Blodgett; granddaughter: Paige Bilicke; and brother: Lester Ryskamp. Left to cherish Joyce’s loving memory are her children: Terry W. (Cindy) Blodgett, Robin L. (Avery) Delaney, Kevin S. Blodgett, Pam (Jerry Jonckheere) Blodgett, Tony (Kristy) Blodgett; younger sister: Carol (Sam) Pilat and her baby sister: Linda (Mike) Dunphey; 25 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. In accordance with her wishes public services will take place at The Schoolcraft Assembly of God, 13000 US-131, Schoolcraft, MI 49087 on Saturday, February 27, 2021 with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Fred Betcher officiating. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. You were and always will be my second family. Love and miss you all. I'll never forget the nursery and flower shop, and all the pool fun. Every time I make my tuna salad, I think of your mom. :)

We always had so much fun visiting Aunt Joyce. Sharing the 4th of July with her and the rest of the family was always the highlight of summer. She gave us so many great memories.
