Judith Rae (Botting) Genovese, of Scotts, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, in 1944 and lived a life defined by kindness, dedication, and an unwavering love for others.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Faye Botting. She is survived by her devoted husband, Albert Genovese; her sister, Patty (Botting) Thompson, and Patty’s husband, Mark; her brother, Rob Botting; and numerous nieces and nephews who adored her.

In 1966, Judy attended Ball State University, where she earned her B.A. in Education and married the love of her life, Albert Genovese. Together, they celebrated 59 years of marriage rooted in deep affection, partnership, and shared adventures.

Her passion for teaching became the guiding force of her life. For 28 years, she taught second grade at Lake Center Elementary School in Portage, Michigan, where her warmth, patience, and loving devotion to her students left a lasting impact on countless young lives. She never met a stranger, and her generous spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Judy cherished nature, loved hiking, traveling, lake life, skiing, and creating art – pursuits that reflected her appreciation for the world’s simple beauty. Her giving heart and joyful presence were constants throughout her life.

She was a longtime member of Saint Thomas More Catholic Student Parish in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where her faith provided community, comfort, and purpose.

Her life was a testament to love, generosity, and the profound difference one person can make. She will be dearly missed by family, friends, former students, and all whose lives she enriched.
