Karen M. Korakas, a beloved member of the community, passed away on September 22, 2023, in Battle Creek, MI. She was born on October 10, 1951, in Toledo, OH, to her loving parents Gus and Alice Korakas.

Karen had a vibrant personality that touched the lives of all who knew her. Her family describes her as funny, happy, family-oriented, quick-witted, and strong-willed. These qualities made her a joy to be around and ensured that she left lasting memories with everyone she encountered.

She had a deep love for sports, particularly Detroit's professional teams. However, her favorite team was the Detroit Tigers. Karen's passion for sports was undeniable and inspired those around her to share in her enthusiasm.

Karen graduated from Libbey High School where she formed lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for a successful life ahead. Her education provided her with great knowledge and skills that she would later utilize in various aspects of her life.

One of Karen's greatest joys was her love for Elvis. She cherished every aspect of his music and connected deeply with his timeless melodies. The King of Rock 'n' Roll brought immense happiness to Karen's life and songs like "Love Me Tender" and "Can't Help Falling in Love" held special places in her heart.

Above all else, Karen held her family dear to her heart. She poured an immeasurable amount of love into each moment spent with them. Her children - son Robert J. Arndt III and daughter Tara Leavell - were the light of her life. Nothing brought Karen greater joy than watching them grow into the incredible individuals they became.

In addition to her children, Karen adored being a grandmother to four grandchildren: Dante Leavell, Cody Arndt, Drew Leavell, and Natalie Arndt. They were a source of immense pride and happiness for Karen. She also had the privilege of being a great-grandmother to three precious souls: Lyanna, Dante Jr., and Zyair.

Karen was preceded in death by her son Robert Arndt, III; and parents, Gus and Alice Korakas. She is survived by her daughter, Tara Leavell (Gregg), and her four siblings: Millie White, Judy Foley, Larry Korakas (Sandy), and Jerry Korakas (Rose). Her loving legacy lives on through numerous nieces and nephews who will forever remember the impact she had on their lives.

Throughout her life, Karen cherished every opportunity to spend time with her family. It was during these moments that she found true happiness and fulfillment. The love she shared with each member of her family was immeasurable and will be treasured forever.

Karen M. Korakas leaves behind a remarkable legacy filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, let us remember the joy she brought into our lives and strive to emulate her commitment to family and her unwavering strength of character.

May her soul find eternal peace, and may all those who were touched by her presence find solace in the memories they shared.

There will be a memorial service held on November 4th at 12noon at the Heritage Church, 3526 Strayer Road, Maumee, OH.
