Karen Elizabeth Mitchell

Karen Mitchell of Plainwell, MI passed away peacefully on July 11, 2022, at the age of 76. Karen was born in Battle Creek, MI on March 21, 1946, to Buck and Maryann Peters. She worked for United Technologies for many years. Karen loved her flowers and her dogs. Karen enjoyed family get togethers around the holidays.  They would take turn hosting different events. Karen was always ready to help anyone in need.  Family was important to her, and she will be dearly missed. Karen is a member of the Littler River Band of Ottawa Indians.

Karen is survived by her sister Sally (Mira) Peters; her sister-in-law, Pearl Peters; her nieces and nephews: Kim Peters, Mike (Jean) Peters, Chuck (Theresa) Peters, Kevin Boney, Joe Boney as well as a great nephew Sean Boney and a Cousin Paul Shue.  Karen is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: Russell Peters, Pauline Boney and a brother-in-law Jake Boney.

A graveside committal service will be held on Friday, July 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery; 1015 Gull Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49048.

Memorial contributions can be made to the ASPCA. The family is being served by the Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Homes: Plainwell Chapel, 120 S. Woodhams St., Plainwell, MI, 49080.
