Kathleen Rubert, of Vicksburg, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the age of 64.

Born on May 31, 1962, in Nyack, NY. Kathleen lived a life marked by creativity, generosity, and a warm, welcoming spirit. Her family remembers her as a social butterfly who made friends with ease and brought a unique energy to those around her. She was known for being creative, generous, and even mechanical, qualities that shaped the way she moved through the world and cared for others.

Kathleen graduated from West Bloomfield High School and continued her education at Western Michigan University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications. She went on to work for many years as a vendor for Arnie’s Bakery and also worked for a local print shop in Kalamazoo. Through both her education and her work, she built a life grounded in dedication and connection with the people around her.

As a child, Kathleen was a Girl Scout, and that spirit of service, resourcefulness, and creativity stayed with her throughout her life. She loved making crafts and helping others, carrying those values into everyday life in meaningful ways. She also enjoyed beginning her mornings by watching “Let’s Make a Deal” on television and then spending time on her computer.

One of the great joys of Kathleen’s life was her marriage to Tim Rubert, the love of her life. The two were married on December 12, 1990, in Las Vegas, and then traveled to Hawaii for their honeymoon. Together they raised their two daughters, Victoria and Elizabeth. They also shared a love of travel throughout their years together, making memories side by side.

Kathleen had a special gift for making holidays memorable and making the people she loved feel cherished. She sent out newsletters and created special ornaments for family and friends. She was also a wonderful cook, and her family especially loved her Asian Surprise and her Beef Wellington, dishes that will remain part of many treasured memories.

Kathleen will be remembered for her lively personality, her kindness to others, her creativity, and the many ways she made life brighter for the people around her. Her memory will live on in the traditions she created, the meals she shared, the friendships she formed, and the love she gave so freely.

She is preceded in death by her mother and stepfather: Barb and Ron Vodicka and her brother: Richard Brennick, Jr.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Tim; two daughters: Victoria Rubert, of Vicksburg; and Elizabeth (Brad Merrick) Rubert, of Kalamazoo. She is also survived by her father: Richard (Gayle) Brennick, of Tustin; two sisters: Jayne (Don) Corwin, of Beverly Hills; and Peggy (Wayne) Nielsen, of VA; stepsister; Amy Brennick, of Stanwood; stepbrother: Ron Vodicka, Jr, (Allyn) of WA; two stepsisters: Sue Vodicka and Marie (Rob) Renner, of CO; nieces and nephews and her grand puppies, grand kitties, and many chickens.
