Kay Armstrong

Kay Marie Armstrong, age 71, of Marcellus, passed away Sunday evening, on May 5, 2024.

Kay was born December 1, 1952, in Kalamazoo, Michigan the daughter of James Alfred and Mildred Carrie (Harnden) Valitchka.


On February 26, 1977, she married Jack W. Armstrong, in Jones, Michigan, and together they had one daughter: Carrie (David) Hiemstra of Marcellus, and one granddaughter Talan Hiemstra, who survives.


Kay is also survived by her brothers- in-law and sisters- in-law, Cindy Valitchka of Lynn Arkansas, Robert Armstrong of Marcellus, Ronald (Kathy) Armstrong of Jones, Connie Joe (Todd) Porath of Three Rivers, Kris Johnson of Decatur and many nieces and nephews. She also had some very special friends and their friendships meant the world to her.


Kay is preceded in death by her parents James and Mildred Valitchka, her husband Jack W. Armstrong, brother James Valitchka, in-laws  Jospeh and Melva Armstrong, sister in-law Janice Armstrong, and nephew Robert Armstrong Jr.


Kay loved to cook and many people loved her food especially her potato salad and any of her homemade soups. She took great pride in her cooking and loved helping cater events or just making someone one of her favorite dishes to enjoy. Kay also was an avid reader and would always have a romance novel in hand.


Kay enjoyed spending  time with her family., but time spent with her granddaughter Talan who was her pride and joy, was most special to her.


The family will welcome friends and family for a celebration of life dinner at a later date.
