Kenneth D Johnson

Kenneth Johnson, age 89, passed away on August 1, 2020. Ken was born on January 17, 1931 in a Salvation Army hospital in Grand Rapids, MI to Frances Helen Glynn. From ages 14 to 19 he worked part time for Retail Stores and other Labor Jobs and delivering coal at a local feed store as well as working nights at a local bowling alley. He once worked for the New York Central and Pennsylvania Railroads doing track laying and maintenance labor. During his High School years he attended Kalamazoo College night school in the machine shop, drafting and automotive mechanics trades. He graduated from High School at the age of 17. At the age of 19, he and two other classmates joined the U.S. Air Force and after two weeks of basic training at Lackland A.F.B, San Antonio Texas before being sent to McDill A.F.B.., Tampa Florida to await 1 1/2 years security clearance to enter Communications School at Scott A.F.B, Bellview, Illinois. Upon leaving the Air Force with an Honorable Discharge, with a rank of Airman First Class, Ken re-enrolled at Florida Southern College in 1954. During his lifetime, Ken worked in several Engineering and drafting fields and spent 23 years in the Aerospace/Defense fields. He was also a design draftsman for Walt Disney Company. Ken earned his Masters Degree in Business and Marketing and became certified in Florida to teach K-12 grade school. Ken was a lifetime member of the national Rifle Association and spent 14 years promoting several monthly matches and participating in many meetings across the state. Ken is survived by his siblings David (Bonnie) Flora, Jeffrey Flora and Darlene Takacs.
