Kent A. Barnes passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at the age of 82. He was born August 6, 1940, in Kalamazoo, MI, son of William G and Emma Cecelia (Whitcomb) Barnes, who preceded him in death. Kent was also preceded in death by his sons, Ronald L. and Steven A.; brothers, William, Thomas, and Philip; and sister-in-law, Sally Barnes. He is survived by his daughter, Teri (Bret) Blalock; grandsons, Rich (Sara) Barnes, Cameron Blalock, and Collin Blalock; sisters, Lucinda Barnes, Cecilia Atchison, Kathleen Barnes, and Therese (Mike) Boltz; sisters-in-law: Karen Barnes and Susan Barnes; former wife, Linda Thole; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Kent loved being outside and taking long walks. He had a great love of sports, especially watching his grandsons play football for Schoolcraft. He was an avid Detroit Tigers and MSU sports fan as well. Kent was very friendly and enjoyed helping others.

There will be a celebration of life on Friday, September 9, 2022, from 4 – 7pm at Schrier Park, 850 Osterhout Ave., Portage, MI. Please join us to share food and memories. Donations may be made to Loaves and Fishes, 901 Portage St, Kalamazoo, MI 49001.
