LaVona Joyce Callen

On Monday, May 29, 2023, LaVona (Bonnie) Joyce Callen, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away at the age of 92.

Bonnie was born on February 8, 1931 in Colon, Michigan. On July 1, 1950 she married Richard Callen. Richard and Bonnie were married for 70 years before Richard passed in January 2021. They raised two sons, Richard Jr. and Dave, and one daughter, Kim.

Bonnie was always found outdoors gardening, tending to flowers and maintaining the home Richard and Bonnie built together. She was a family enthusiast, always attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, hosting Friday night dinners and card game competitions amongst loved ones. Bonnie loved her traditions including mapping her weekly garage sale route, hosting everyone for Christmas and traveling south to Florida every winter for 15 years. Bonnie was a giver and donated nearly 100 gallons of blood to Red Cross over her lifetime. Bonnie and Richard together are known for their ability to bring people together and the example of marriage, hard work and family that they leave behind.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband, Richard. She is survived by her three children, Richard Jr. and Sandy, Dave and Sonia, Kim and John, her grandchildren, Austin, Logan, and Taylor, and several cousins.

A celebration of life will be held in the coming weeks with details to be determined.
